Statistical and land audit purposes
As of 5 April 2025, a new regulatory requirement has been introduced for property transactions in South Africa, namely a new Form LLL (triple L). Regulation 18 of the Deeds Registries Act 47 of 1937 has been amended by the addition of Form LLL with the intention to gather demographic data for land auditing and statistical purposes.
The form is now one of the mandatory supporting documents to be filed at the Deeds Office and if not accurately completed, could result in delaying your property registration process. The Conveyancer attending to your property transaction will provide you with a copy of the form for completion and signature.
Form to be completed by?
The prescribed form must be completed and signed by each purchaser (transferee) or registered owner/holder if no transfer of property is effected.
Information to be provided?
Natural persons will inter alia be required to provide their full names, SA identity number (or foreign passport number), race, gender, nationality, citizenship and permanent resident status.
A Company / Close Corporation / Trust / Other Entity will inter alia be required to provide the full name and registration number of the entity including the race, gender and nationality of the majority shareholding, beneficiaries and/or members.
Form to be signed by?
Each purchaser (transferee) or registered owner/holder (if no transfer of property is effected) must sign the form. Once the form is completed and signed, it should be returned to the relevant Conveyancer.
