We care

One of our values is, “We care – we make your business our business”. Our Conveyancing Department acted out this value when we were part of a community development project of the George Municipality in Protea Park.
Millers joined hands with the George Municipality when they were appointed to open the General Plan for a housing development for 66 erven on the Protea Park land and to do the registration of the transfers at a huge discounted rate.
Salomé van Wyk, director of Millers, acted as conveyancer for the project. When she and her assistant, Willemien Nieuwoudt, visited the site where the 66 houses are now all newly built, she said: “I cannot believe the transformation since 2014. I am so glad for the residents who now have their own property with a brick and mortar little house on it.”
Edwin Herandien, the acting deputy director of human settlements of the George Municipality explained: “We had many challenges to overcome. The residents of the nearby Lavalia had to be consulted and the correct owners who were the first occupiers had to be identified. When building the houses, we did not receive enough money from the Western Cape subsidy to put the residents up somewhere else, pending the completion of the buildings. We had to make money available from the municipality for this. We were also able to build a 2-bedroom house with a small sitting room and kitchen with the available subsidy.”
“We could see that Mr. Herandien and the project manager, Mr. Rodney Stemmett, who showed us around, were very proud of the project and it also made us proud to be part of a successful community project.” said van Wyk.
